Strategic interventions with multifaceted short-term and long-term environmental, social, and economic benefits have been included in the Programme “Environment and Climate Change” 2021-2027.
The proposed operations of strategic importance aim at improving the energy efficiency of the building stock, shielding the country against climate change, to urban revitalization, at promoting the holistic management of water resources and the creation of solid waste management systems with respect to circular economy. Strategic projects also help to promote sustainable multimodal urban mobility and to address challenges faced by the islands by creating a virtuous cycle of sustainable development in the Greek island area.
The criteria for characterizing operations “of strategic importance” relate to their significant environmental and social footprint, within the context of the 2021-2027 Cohesion Policy Objective for a “greener, low-carbon transitioning towards a net zero carbon economy and resilient Europe by promoting clean and fair energy transition, green and blue investment, the circular economy, climate change mitigation and adaptation, risk prevention and management, and sustainable urban mobility”
The Managing Authority is responsible for the management and monitoring of the Programmes, within the framework of the NSRF 2021-2027, in accordance with articles 7 and 8 of Law 4914/2022 and the Management and Control System. At the same time, it undertakes the responsibilities of Intermediate Management Body for priority axes 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 14B of the O.P.
